Position Summary Reporting to the Vice Dean for Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship at NYU?s Tandon School for Engineering, the Director of Research Administration, will be responsible for establishing and leading the school?s Office of Research Administration (ORA). S/he will collaborate with, as well as provide support and leadership to a wide range of departments, offices, staff and especially faculty, including working with the key members of Tandon?s Leadership Team to determine the pre- and post-award grants management needs of each department, developing service level agreements (SLAs) that will provide the most effective, efficient and timely support to all of the research faculty and staff, providing as needed training to current staff and ensuring the office is properly staffed to meet all SLA obligations. The Director is liaison to and expected to hold regular meetings with central research administration to convey Tandon-specific challenges and advocate for faculty-identified priorities for service and support. ? Duties will include: Develop standard operating procedures and service level agreements for both pre- and post-award grants management support Oversee all day-to-day pre- and post-award operations related to Tandon?s portfolio of sponsored research, including the management of all pre- and post-award grants management staff Disseminate and communicate regulatory directives and updates to pre-award, post-award to principal investigators and school administration in coordination with central research administration? Proactively assist faculty and staff with proposal preparation, budget development, reporting requirements, and regulation compliance Ensure cohesive communication of pre-award, compliance, and post-award throughout project lifecycles Support staff professional development activities Mentor all Tandon OSP pre through post award staff and assume respinsibility for annual program planning and evaluations with the establishment of outcomes based metrics for success and implementation of continuous performance improvement and professional development Plan, initiate, and coordinate faculty and staff training designed to stimulate proposals and increase their success rates Provide outreach and professional development activities for faculty and staff creating greater community awareness and understanding of grant-seeking processes and opportunities Provide monthly standardized reports to all research faculty showing financials and effort reporting information Oversee the effort reporting process Ensure 100% compliance with both sponsor and University policies Serve as the primary liaison between Tandon and NYU?s Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) Provide ad-hoc reports as needed Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Education: Master's Degree Required Experience: At least five years of increasing responsibility in proposal, grant, and contract development and administration with a broad understanding of the regulations governing compliance of grants and contracts.? Experience with change management and securing buy-in from a variety of key-stakeholders is key. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Working knowledge of mandated regulations governing grants by federal, state, and private agencies required. Excellent supervisory, interpersonal, writing, editing and public speaking skills are required. Candidate must have experience or familiarity working with faculty and staff and have a very strong mission centric, customer service focus. Demonstrates pro-active demeanor, takes initiative, and displays ability to work autonomously in completing an extensive portfolio of responsibilities. Ability to multi-task and work well in a demanding deadline-driven environment. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to follow up frequently and as needed.? Strong analytical, solution driven skills and ability to problem solve complex issues. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of diverse funding policies and guidelines for sponsored research programs offered through federal, private, and university sources. Demonstrated ability to remain up to date with constantly changing submission, contract and compliance requirement. Demonstrated working knowledge of all applicable computer software programs, including Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Research Administration systems. Proficient presentation, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate with multiple partners and navigate varying interests. Demonstrate project management and team management skills. Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, administrators, students and external sponsors.
